We discovered this 1948 Bucik Super Convertible while on the hunt for a Roadmaster. We instantly fell in love and bought it anyway. The minute it arrived, a great client and friend saw it and also fell in love, so he had us build it for him. Last on the road in 1958, it was perfect for what we do. This client is a bit of a leadfoot, so we built it with a blown LS9 putting out about 670HP! This one is an absolute blast to drive! • Art Morrison chassis • LS9 with dry sump, and intercooler • GM 4L85E automatic transmission • Wilwood power disc brakes (6 piston/4 piston) with hydroboost • Custom stainless steel fuel system • MIL Spec wiring harness, built from scratch • Hidden A/C and heat • Modern wiper system • Polyurea coated body • Extensive use of Dynamat sound deadener products • All new weatherstripping • Power windows and top • Bespoke custom Moore & Giles Italian interior • Rolls Royce wool carpet • Mercedes tan canvas top • Hidden audio system, Bluetooth dependent, four speakers plus amp & bass
We took this one to share with Jay Leno and did an episopde of Leno's Garage. See it in our video section. Jay said this was the most fun car he had ever driven. That is big kudos from him. He has driven EVERYTHING!
Again, magical patina. This one had one large rust hole, so we crafted a new panel and artfully faked and blended the patina. This is the only time the top was ever up on this car!
Now running a modern tilt and collapsible steering column modified to receive the stock steering wheel. The seat has been modified with an articulating center console with cup holders and iPhone power. Seat frame was also modified for lower seating position, using dense memory foam.
We modified the stock center speaker grill to house our modern audio-NAV system. The center section opens with a tap, and gently falls with gas shock supports. Keeps the stock look while infusing the modern utility.
Also, all dash switches are modern units, for which we designed knobs that appeared original. This design took countless hours to make work, but all was worth it in the end! This is a feaute we now often repeat.
All Derelicts get the ICON Derelict badge. These are designed as per the body tags used by craftsmen decades ago. The 'Made In California' font is from the old Route 66 signs.
Starts with a laser scan of the underside of the body, then into CAD where we work with Art Morrison to design a platform specific chassis, integrating the clients choice of suspension designs and powertrain components.
In an effort to merge the contemporary engine with the vintage car, we designed and CNC'ed this aluminum cover for the modern LS9, then faux patina painted it. The font was inspired by the original "Fireball Eight" font on the stock valve cover.
Before final assembly, the underside and inner floor surfaces are prepped then coated in a heat cured polyurea coating. Inside floor, quarter panels and doors are next coated with Dynamat sound deadener products.
